Who am I? Why do I want to be an educator? What does an educator do in his or her practice? What are my passions?

Name:Taylor Parker
Why educate?: To help students understand how important an education actually is.
What does an educator do?: An educator teaches students how to actually "learn".
My passions: cheerleading
My name is Taylor Parker. I am 22 years old. I have lived about 15 miles south of Mobile my entire life in a town called Irvington. I started at South Alabama in 2010 directly after graduating high school. My first few years at South Alabama I was a nursing major. Just recently I switched my major to English/secondary Education. I do not have much family that lives near me. Most of my family resides in Mississippi near Hattiesburg. I was a cheerleader for seven years. Cheering was a huge part of my life through out middle school and high school. I plan to teach English at the middle school level and I also plan to become a cheer coach shortly after I start teaching.

First off, I decided to switch from nursing to education mainly because I felt like the atmosphere and setting would be more comfortable for me. Growing up I spent a lot of time involved being around schools, therefore I am comfortable in a school setting, rather than a hospital or clinic. Second reason that I have decided to enter the field of education is that I was raised to value education and I hope to pass this along to my future students. I would also like to make a positive and motivating impact on children's lives. An educator's responsibility goes beyond the classroom. Educators should help students evolve into the real world by teaching them how to apply skills and perspectives to everyday life.
